Why do people write memoirs?
What power is there in telling our own stories?

People write memoirs to tell important events in their life or their life story. People like to tell about their own life experiences so they write memoirs. People also write memoirs because it kind of gives their life closure. Older people get to write about their life story and how they have lived. This gives them a good use of their time and it helps them give back to the world they are leaving. Middle age people also write memoirs if they accomplish something important. They do this to show what they have accomplished and how they accomplished it.

There is alot of power in telling our own stories. It shows the kind of person we are in the way we tell our story and in the story we tell. I also shows the power that we can be honest because many people will look at our memoir and they will critque it, hopefully they will say that it is true because why would you write it if it wasn't. You can also say whatever you want to when writing your memoir, this shows freedom power. These are the powers in telling our own stories.

I agree with you about how writing gives someones life closure but do you think that person has to have something important to write about or can anyone tell their story?

I really like it how you mentioned the reasons why different age groups write memoirs. But I also think that it is not only middle age people who write their memoirs about accomplishments. Older and younger people could do this, too. It was interesting how you wrote about others critiquing memoirs, I agree with you there.

I can see why older people would write momoirs to give the world a little bit about the life they led and I liked how you talked about the power in it.
